5 Tips on How You Can Age Gracefully

Aging is inevitable but looking “old” is not.  Aside from genetics, habits play a big role in the aging process.  It is never too late to reverse time instead of speeding it up.

Here are 5 tips on how you can age gracefully:

  1. Avoid Stress

Stress can cause a lot of physical and mental health problems and studies show that it can make you 10 years older.  So if you want to age gracefully, you should learn to not stress about certain things.  Of course, a problem-free life is quite impossible but how you manage it is what’s important.

Don’t obsess over your problems.  Let go of the things that you can’t control and focus on the positive.

  1. Laugh it out

In relation to stress, laughing is a great tool in coping with all the problems that come your way.  Aside from that, studies show that laughter raises DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) levels, which is  has anti-aging properties.

  1. Stay Active

Regular exercise can decrease inflammation in the body which happens when we age.  Therefore, by being physically active, you decrease your risk for related diseases such as cardiovascular problems, depression, decreased mental function and loss of muscle mass.

You don’t need to overdo it.  Just exercise in moderation.  You are also not limited to gym workouts or sports, the options are endless – from Yoga to Salsa, Ballroom dancing and just the trusty old morning walks.

  1. Avoid too much Sun

Too much sun exposure is accountable for skin ageing, wrinkles and skin damage.   It also reduces skin elasticity and degrades skin texture which makes the person look old.  On the other hand, it is also a great source for Vitamin D.  So just make sure to get a little sun here and there and skip the full day tanning sessions.  And of course, never forget to wear sunscreen AT ALL TIMES.

  1. Stay Hydrated

Water intake makes the skin look refreshed and youthful.  It is not only essential for anti-aging, it is also very important to your health.  Make sure to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day in order to flush the toxins from the skin and have a glowing complexion.
